Bill and I packed up gear for the visit to Nine Mile Canyon, but also for the followup river trip through the Desolation and Gray Canyons on the Green river. After dinner in Price, Utah, we settled in late at a private camp ground on the west end of the canyon. There was only one other couple camping there.

We spent the day slowly driving east on the paved road with numerous concrete dips designed in the road for flooding. We used a guide instructions Bill had stop and almost all the petroglyphs. A number of them involved climbing up the sides of the steep canyon hills to rock outcrops where the petroglyphs were. Typically there were no trails it was just a scramble. We took many photos. Late in the day we drove north to Duschesne, Utah, where we had a big dinner before driving back southeast to the put in on the Green River. We met the other folks for the river trip there.
We discussed and decided not to bring the raft on the trailer because of the unknown conditions of the dirt roads in the region. It was probably the best choice. There is a dirt road from Nine Mile directly over to the Green river put in which we probably would have been passable in the Honda CRV. This would have save the trip to Duschesne.
