Sun Peaks ski area is ideally a destination ski area where one stays in the village. Sun Peaks is reported to be the second largest ski area in Canada. It was just under an hours drive from Kamloops. I met three groups from Australia. The attraction was a compact low key village surround by low speed chairs and groomed blue to green runs. I understand the place does get good snowfall historically. I found some ungroomed moderately pitched runs with broken powder and moguls which I suspect most visitors avoided. The snow was heavier than I'm use to requiring a bit more effort to flex and turn the skis. The west chairs and runs offered the steepest runs. A couple topped out in the clouds. Visibility on this day was nil at times. I loosely followed the very few other skiers to identify the say down. The trees were helpful. It was good that most of these runs were groomed since the light was so flat I couldn't have seen the bumps if they'd been present.

I really enjoyed chatting with folks from down-under. If I went again, I'd stay in the village and stock up on groceries before arriving. Its a mountain for beginner to advanced intermediate skiers. The 'Annex' is the place to go for day skiers as it is the standard skier's warming hut with food. The other places are formal restaurants with limited seating.
