Wondering Thoughts

Life is like a freefall - The stork drops you off high in the sky and you descend until 6 feet underground; best use the time falling wisely as

diapers don't double as parachutes.

Humans throw flesh against steel to see which will prevail; the child knows the outcome yet matures and attempts the same folly.

Politics is the arena of ego and self-righteousness. It is synonymous with religion where dogma oppresses enlightenment.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is. The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

I believe that purgatory can begin while we’re still alive. It starts..

  • in the withdrawing from those we once loved

  • when we stop learning

  • upon stopping to live with intention

  • in the absence of goals after the drive to procreate fades

  • the day we can’t remember the sunrise or sunset

  • when we stop loving – ourselves.

Like a glass of water tipped over and spilled, man’s trajectory to consume and destroy the planet as we know it is destiny. 20200120

Feelings of sadness or happiness or depression or euphoria are nature’s or God’s (if you possess such beliefs) opiates to deflect your attention from the fact that we are purposefully expendable. We each stand on the backs of those who came before us to support those that follow us. That sobering realization has the tendency to make us feel our lives are useless in their finiteness. Yet, if we can embrace our roles as essential to present and future lives, then it can feel peaceful and uplifting. One must lose ego and acknowledge that we all ultimately sacrifice for the good of the whole. The gift of life to participate, even though feeling short, a struggle, and perhaps meaningless, is a miraculous gift to be cherished. 20200901

As love is blind so is hate. In love we may project our own images of desire blinded to the special and unique frailties and strengths of the person we profess to love. In hate we may project our images of anger and fear blinded to the grace and kindness of the person before us. 20211115

For all of you who believe what happens here does not matter as you're going to heaven, bully for you! And your children and grandchildren? What of them? 20220511

Conscious thought only gives us the illusion of understanding and control; it is the unconscious that propels our choices, desires, and preferences. 20220905

I saw the moon. I felt the wind. I stood on the porch experiencing those things. They feel real. They make me feel connected. 20171227

I reflect

Upon a life

Mixing straw into mud

Nameless

Nothing

Try as we might, we’re all not perfect.

We’re not always good at what we’re doing.

We’re not always good at listening to others.

We’re not always good at loving our loved ones.

We’re not always good at saying what should be said.

We’re not always good at following directions.

We’re not always good at exercising patience for others.

We’re not always good at saying ‘I’m sorry’

We’re not always good at forgiving.

We’re not always good at being generous.

We’re not always good at seeing others strengths.

We’re not always good at being optimists

We’re not always good and hugging our children

Too often we’re great at

Saying no no no to our children

Finding fault with what others do and believe

Shirking our responsibilities

Kicking someone that’s down

Seeing the world only through our eyes
